Echoes of Loss Unfurling: Apparitions | Installation, durational performance, photography | 2007

This installation serves as a praxis for navigating the aftermath of death. Through charting the unfurling path of the labyrinth, I mourned and memorialized my father’s death. By inscribing the labyrinth’s form upon the floor with ash, fragments of text, photographs, sumptuous objects and substances representing his life, his homeland, and his departure, I paid homage to my father’s life at his time of transition. The audience was invited to engage in the ritual of walking the labyrinth, and to contemplate the symbols, words, and objects in a practice of conjuring memories of lost loved ones.
