The Shea Oyé Project | In Partnership with Canadian Multicultural Inventors’ Museum | Windsor University | Windsor | 2018
A healing and wellness workshop for young Black women and gender non-binary folks, the project space is curated with African cultural elements including fabric, an altar, books, and music to provide an immersive Afrocentric experience. Working with shea butter, oils and botanical essences, participants create individual customized body butters while dialoguing about their lived experience in an atmosphere of camraderie and mutuality. This project is facilitated with Black feminist, decolonial ethics, and within a framework of ceremony.
